Studying in Germany

Tuition

Most public universities charge no tuition for most programs — only a semester contribution (typically €100–€400). Baden-Württemberg charges non-EU fees (~€1,500/semester); some master's programs have fees.

Intakes

Winter semester (Oct) is the main intake — deadlines commonly ~15 July. Summer semester (Apr) — deadlines commonly ~15 January. Many international programs use uni-assist.

Requirements

Recognized entrance qualification (check anabin), English or German test depending on program (IELTS/TOEFL or TestDaF/DSH), sometimes GRE for technical master's.

Visa

National (D) student visa for non-EU students; blocked account (~€11,900/yr, amount changes yearly) usually required as proof of funds.

Country-level guidance. Always confirm on official university and government pages.
